How e-commerce companies are increasing IT jobs in Pune and other cities

In recent years, we have changed the way we shop for things. With a simple click of the mouse, we buy what we want. This has led to a huge boom for the e-commerce companies. In turn, this has created many IT jobs in Pune and other major cities for aspiring programmers.

There is a huge demand for programmers to develop Bots, applications, and many others in the IT jobs in Pune and other cities. Many companies are holding off campus drive in Pune and other cities to fill this requirement. Developers are in need to build and maintain the applications and sites.

A report by Impact of Ecommerce on Employment in India released by the online marketplace in partnership with KPMG revealed, “The logistics and warehousing sector is expected to contribute almost 55 percent to direct employment opportunities in e-retail. Also, e-retail is expected to add 0.4 million high-skilled jobs by 2021.”

This means there will be a huge demand for programmers and developers and there will be plenty of IT jobs in Pune, Mumbai, Bangalore and other cities.

The report also states that e-commerce companies have played a pivotal role in bringing the talent even from the villages and they have been offered leading IT jobs in Pune.

Most e-commerce companies are holding off campus drive in Pune and other cities along with Boot camps to offer IT jobs. The off campus drive in Pune and other cities focus on technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) as it is one of the most demanded technology by the companies to offer a better customer experience. E-commerce companies depend on latest technologies like automation and AI. According to B Thammaiah, managing director at Kelly Services, India, “Some of the areas of e-commerce companies include robotic process automation (RPA), big data, analytics, artificial intelligence, and blockchain. People with 3-5 years’ experience will be much in demand in IT seeking different roles other than coding.”

Companies like Snapdeal, food delivery app Zomato and many others are trying to add to their technical talent. Snapdeal is expected to hire about 120 engineers in 2020 in an attempt to strengthen its tech team.

Similarly, Zomato is exploring new areas to be covered and is planning to increase its engineering team in 2020 just like they did in 2019. Food delivery app Swiggy has also hired many people in the last 18 months.

It is hence advisable for the tech talent to upskill and make sure they are employable. The opportunities with e-commerce companies are plenty. If the talent possesses the relevant skills, then a lot of opportunities will be in store for them.
